Natalie Popovich
Dr. Natalie Popovich is a Research Scientist in the Energy Analysis and Environmental Impacts (EAEI) Division at Berkeley Lab and a Senior Advisor in Rail Decarbonization to the Department of Energy Vehicle Technologies Office. She was a Justice40 Fellow for the DOE Office of Economic Impact and Diversity, where she collaborated across agencies to work on implementing the Justice40 initiative. She is an environmental economist whose research focuses on the decarbonization pathways for non-road transport modes. She examines how transportation systems affect community resilience and accessibility and specializes in travel behavior, mode choice modeling, and micromobility planning. As a Schmidt MacArthur Fellow, she investigated how elements of the circular economy concept could be applied to information flows to improve natural resource management. She completed her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics and her M.S. in Transportation Policy at UC Davis.
